|
Profile
PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara, lit. 'State Electricity Company') is an Indonesian government-owned corporation which has a monopoly on electricity distribution.
In 2009, PT PLN secured financing needed to finalize the construction of power plants under the government's first 10,000 megawatt (MW) fast-track program, paving the way for completion by 2013 as scheduled. A total of 35 power plants would be constructed under the first program. Of the total 35 plants, 10 would be built in Java with 4,337MW of generation capacity, and the remaining would be constructed off the Java-Bali system which would generate 5,626MW of power. Around 83 power plants would be tendered out, under the second 10,000MW program, which includes 65 plants outside Java.
The second 10,000MW program would produce 12% of power from hydro plants, 48% of power from geothermal plants, and 14% of power from gas plants, and the rest of 26% from coal plants. The second 10,000MW program is due to be completed by 2012.
PLN currently employs 47,532 staff across the country.
Teledata's Solutions:
In 2008, PT. PLN (Persero) chose PT. Teledata Indonesia to upgrade their existing Enterprise Telephony OmniPCX system and increase the capacity to meet the growing operational needs for six key locations.
To meet PT. PLN (Persero) stringent requirements, Teledata implemented the following Alcatel-Lucent IP Telephony systems for 2000 extensions:
- The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server (CS) is a highly scalable solution based on a pure software communication server platform that provides multimedia call processing for both Alcatel-Lucent and third-party clients/phones.
- Alcatel-Lucent Professional Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) phones mean PLN employees are free to get on with their jobs while making sure they can always be reached as the need arises.
- Alcatel-Lucent's WLAN solution is a highly scalable, comprehensive set of mobile LAN products that automatically identify and authenticate users as they connect to the network.
- The Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista 4760 Network Management tools are innovative, modular platforms that provide a suite of management applications for data and voice infrastructures. These powerful Java-based tools provide centralized management for the Alcatel-Lucent switches, communications servers, services, and third-party devices.
Mr. Affandi, General Manager of PT. PLN (Persero), commented, “I am very impressed with the results of the OmniPCX upgrade. Our overall voice communication costs has gone down by 50% and our work productivity has gone up significantly. I am also very impressed with the professionalism of PT. Teledata Indonesia engineers for meeting our very tight delivery timelines”. |
